We’ll visit Ellis Island and see the Statue of Liberty as well as, take an NYC narrated tour of the downtown, uptown and midtown locations. We've also dedicated several hours to the new 9-11 Memorial and Museum. Our lodging is at the lovely Staybridge Suites at 340 West 40th Street – to included lovely suites, refreshments each evening and a breakfast in the morning. One more new addition to the Big Apple Tour is an overnight in Jamestown, NY to visit the Lucille Desi Museum and Studio to include dinner at the Tropicana! - $200 per person deposit is due when registering. Credit Cards Accepted but specials and discounts may NOT apply when using credit cards. After April 15, 2016, the deposit is non-refundable. Final balance is due June 15, 2016. No refunds with cancellations after May 14, 2016. The tour is transferable if you should have to cancel providing we have a waiting list.
- Monies returned with cancellations between April 1-June 15, 2016 is contingent to what Happy Trails Tours receives back from hotels, theaters, restaurants, and charters and must be submitted in writing. Travel Insurance is available at an additional charge. This can offer peace of mind and financial security. It must be purchased within 10 days of your initial deposit in order for pre-existing conditions to be waived. Let us know if you would like us to send you a brochure. We need to meet a minimum of 28 passengers by June 15, 2016 or the tour may run the risk of being canceled. If we cancel the tour due to less than 28, all monies paid by the customer is fully refundable.
- Final documents will arrive about two weeks prior to departure to include day-by-day itinerary, luggage tags, phone numbers and confirmed boarding locations and times.
- Please note: We do have two hotel properties that do not have elevators. Some rooms would require climbing a flight of stairs.

Day 1: Monday, August 15 A full day of travel from various locations throughout Minnesota
BOARDING INFORMATION: This motor coach offers convenient boarding in many communities throughout the state of Minnesota and even a few in Wisconsin! Some of the stops that are standard on most of our tours are as follows; Central MN - Baxter, Little Falls, Rice, Sartell and St Stephens In Northeast MN- Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Virginia, Eveleth, Duluth. In Wisconsin - Superior, Solon Springs & Eau Clair
Beginning in the early morning people are boarding throughout the state of Minnesota. A morning breakfast stop is made before everyone blends together on main motor coach in Eau Clair. Here is where we have our lunch break. After lunch, we begin our trek southeast through the lovely state of Wisconsin, Illinois and to Indiana. We'll spend the night in Merrillville, Indiana at the Hampton Inn with an expected arrival around 7 pm.
Day 2: Tuesday, August 16 Travel to Du Bois, Pennsylvania 490 miles
7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors for the porter ~ 7:00 AM- Breakfast is served ~
8:00 am – Board the coach and travel to Du Bois, PA.
We’ll say goodbye to Merrillville and continue east on I-80 through extreme northern Indiana and Ohio through the upper northwest portion of Pennsylvania. Again, just set your seats back, relax and enjoy the countryside as we travel along. We’ll make stops every
2 ½ -3 hours for meals and comfort stops. Occasionally, we’ll play a movie on board and share stories and before you know it, we’re at our day’s destination.
6:30 pm- Estimated arrival to Du Bois, Pennsylvania at the Best Western Conference Center. A deluxe continental breakfast is included
Day 3: Wednesday, August 17 Travel to New York City, NY ( 4 Nights) 290 miles
7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors for the porter ~ 7:00 AM- Breakfast is served
8 am – Board the coach and travel to New York City.
After a full breakfast buffet, we’ll board the coach travel to NYC. As we move along I-80 through northeastern Pennsylvania, we’ll begin to see the landscape change as we travel through the Allegany mountain range with it’s rolling hills and farmlands. We are about 5-6 hours (estimated barring traffic) from New York City. So other than a morning comfort stop and a lunch break we’ll continue to keep our eye on the BIG APPLE.
3:30 pm – Estimated arrival to NYC (check in is at 4 pm) to the Staybridge Suites Hotel Time Square. (Google: Staybridge Time Square for more info)
Upon our arrival, we’ll get checked in and then gather in the hotel lobby (for those who wish to join us) and we’ll take a short walk around the hotel to get folks comfortable with their surroundings.
The rest of the day is wide open to enjoy as per one’s own agenda. Perhaps you’d like to see a Broadway show or just find a restaurant and enjoy a relaxing dinner to end your day. The Staybridge Time Square offers studio mini-suites with two double beds in the room, kitchenettes, free high speed wireless internet, a nice breakfast each morning, coffeemakers, irons & ironing boards and hairdryers. It’s right in the middle of the Theater District where many theaters, restaurants and museums are within walking distance.

Day 4: Thursday, August 18 Uptown-Midtown-Downtown Manhattan - Top of the Rock, Dinner & Show
Enjoy breakfast, included, before beginning a day of sightseeing in the NYC.
8:00 am- Meet our step on guide and board our motor coach to begin our comprehensive tour of Uptown-Downtown-Midtown-Manhattan.
First off…we’ll visit the Top of the Rock and then continue with a tour of Uptown (Harlem, Lincoln Center, Central Park, St Pat’s Cathedral); Midtown (Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Times Square. Grand Central Station, 42nd Street, Rockefeller Center walk Radio City Music Hall, and more); Downtown (Greenwich Village, Washington Square, Federal Hall, Trinity Church, World Financial Center, Wall Street and China Town.
3:00 pm- We’ll arrive back to the hotel ~ allowing a little time to rest before going out to dinner and show.
4:45 pm- Gather in the lobby and begin our walk to dinner & show.
5:00 pm- Sit down dinner at a nice NYC Restaurant (Mustang Harry's on Seventh Avenue)
6:30 pm- Our dinner concludes and ride the motor coach to the Shubert Theater on 44th Street to see "MALTIDA the Musical"

You'll see New York's famous landmarks, including the Chrysler Building, Times Square, the Hudson River, the East River, Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Perched 70 stories above the city at Rockefeller Plaza, the panoramic views of Manhattan are unequaled anywhere else in New York City. You may still visit the Empire State Building on your own, but this has become a NYC city favorite with tourists so we thought we would do the Top of the Rock this time and see what everyone is raving about.

Day 5: Friday, August 19th Ellis Island Immigration, the Statue of Liberty & Little Italy
Enjoy breakfast, before beginning another full day of touring.
7:45 AM board our motor coach with our NYC tour guide and travel to the ferry dock that will take us to Ellis Island. Here you will visit the Statue of Liberty. We’ll also visit the amazing Ellis Island Immigration Museum where over 3 million visitors come annually. This day will also include Little Italy with a delicious lunch, included.
3:45 pm- Return from our day of touring ~ A late afternoon return to the hotel allows you ample time to do as per your own agenda.
New York is a city that’s alive with all the sights and sounds of musicals, horse drawn carriage rides, shopping and more. Enjoy.

Day 6: Saturday, August 20th A Free Day in the Big Apple!

Day 7: Sunday, August 21st 9-11 Memorial & Museum - Travel to Jamestown, NY - Lucille Ball's Hometown
Enjoy breakfast, before beginning another full day of touring.
8:00 AM- board our motor coach this morning for our visit to the brand new 9-11 Memorial and Museum. This is the first time we'll have seen the new memorial. The Museum displays artifacts associated with the events of 9/11, while presenting stories of loss and recovery. Beyond Ground Zero: 9/11 and the American Landscape, Photographs by Jonathan C. Hyman is on exhibition in the Museum. The photographs document improvised memorials that emerged within days of the attacks, and continually for years thereafter. This is sure to be very touching and emotional. We'll be here until for about 2 1/2 hours.
12:30 pm- We'll depart NYC and travel 400 miles (6 hours) to Jamestown, NY - birthplace of Lucille Ball.
7:00 pm- This is an estimated arrival hour to Jamestown. We'll relax at the hotel with the evening at your leisure. Breakfast included today.
Day 8: Monday, August 22nd Lucy Desi Hometown Tour, Studio & Museum -Travel to Port Clinton, Ohio-230 Miles
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room of the hotel – We’ll set our luggage outside our doors at 8 am.
9:00 am- We'll welcome a local Jamestown Step On Guide who'll show us her town and share with us the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. We'll drive by her birth home on the Lucy Town Tour, visit her Lucy Desi Museum and their Studio. We'll conclude our time here with a nice lunch at the Tropicana, included, while enjoying an I Love Lucy episode on screen.
1:30 pm- We'll continue our westward travels through upstate New York and Pennsylvania to Ohio. We’ll notice a change of pace from the big hustle and bustle of the city to a leisure drive with comfort stops along the way as needed.
5:30 pm- We’ll arrive to our hotel in Port Clinton, Ohio (Country Inn & Suites). Breakfast & Lunch is included today.
Day 9: Tuesday, August 23rd Homeward Bound through Ohio, Indiana & Wisconsin - 438 Miles
7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors - Enjoy a full hot breakfast.
8:00 am- Board the bus for and we’ll continue to Madison.
We’ll continue to stay on I-80 making the best time possible as we travel westward – again, making stops along the way as needed. We’ll arrive to our lovely Hampton Inn in Madison, Wisconsin tonight.
5:00 pm- Estimated time of arrival to Madison. Tonight dinner and evening activities are on your own. Hot Breakfast is included today
Day 10: Wednesday, August 24th Home Sweet Home with Many Fond Memories – 338 Miles
7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors and have your breakfast before checking out of the hotel.
8:00 am- Board the coach and we’ll begin the last day of journey. We only have a short day of travel since we are coming from Madison, WI. I hope you’ve left a little extra room in your suitcase to pack all the wonderful memories you’ve made on this NYC tour. We’ll travel along 94 W to Eau Clair (lunch stop) making this stop a great place to say good-bye to fellow travelers and begin boarding the shuttles that return you home. Breakfast is served.

How to Pack & Luggage: The tour is completely casual. Wear good walking shoes and be sure to have along a lined fall jacket. Folks may bring one suitcase (and a carry on bag) per person. Many properties offer guest laundry facilities. Many also offer indoor pools.
The Coach: The coach is equipped with a restroom, reclining seats, TV and DVD players, sound system and best of all….GREAT DRIVERS! There's also limited WiFi on board and electrical outlets to charge your devices or camera batteries.
Tipping: This tour includes most tips. Tips are included for luggage handling each night, included meals for wait staff and tips of step on guides for area tours throughout the 17 days. Tips are not included for your on-board travel host or driver.
Special Needs: This tour is manageable for folks with limited walking or special needs. There's not a lot long distances to walk and it does not include hiking, though there may be short walks to some of the overlooks in some of the national parks. It may be challenging if you need a wheel chair or scooter. Ask you doctor if your health can manage traveling in high mountain elevations.

How to Pack & Luggage: The tour is completely casual. Wear good walking shoes and be sure to have along a lined fall jacket. Folks may bring one suitcase (and a carry on bag) per person. Many properties offer guest laundry facilities. Many also offer indoor pools.
The Coach: The coach is equipped with a restroom, reclining seats, TV and DVD players, sound system and best of all….GREAT DRIVERS! There's also limited WiFi on board and electrical outlets to charge your devices or camera batteries.
Tipping: This tour includes most tips. Tips are included for luggage handling each night, included meals for wait staff and tips of step on guides for area tours throughout the 17 days. Tips are not included for your on-board travel host or driver.
Special Needs: This tour is manageable for folks with limited walking or special needs. There's not a lot long distances to walk and it does not include hiking, though there may be short walks to some of the overlooks in some of the national parks. It may be challenging if you need a wheel chair or scooter. Ask you doctor if your health can manage traveling in high mountain elevations.
Changes: We reserve the right to adjust this schedule for the benefit of all traveling. If a change of hotel, restaurant or an attraction occurs, we’ll replace it with one of equal value or better. As always… we’ll inform you of any changes as we learn of them.
