This fantastic tour includes FOUR nights at the Hampton Time Square North in Midtown Manhattan on 8th Avenue and 51st Street. We are nearby theaters, museums, restaurants and phenomenal shopping! There’s plenty of time to explore on your own, too. We’ll visit Ellis Island and see the Statue of Liberty as well as, take a NYC narrated tour on the Downtown, Uptown and Midtown locations. We've also dedicated several hours to the new 9-11 Memorial and Museum. One more delightful inclusion on the Big Apple Tour is a visit to Jamestown, NY, hometown of Lucille Ball, the Lucille Desi Museum and Studio. We've also included a nice lunch at the Tropicana! $250 per person deposit is due when registering. After March 10, 2021, the deposit becomes non-refundable. Final balance is due May 10, 2021. No refunds with cancellations after June 10, 2021.
The tour is transferable if you should have to cancel providing we have a waiting list or you know of someone who would like to take your place. Monies returned with cancellations between May 10 - June 10, 2020 is contingent to what Happy Trails Tours receives back from hotels, theaters, restaurants, and charters and must be submitted in writing. Travel Insurance is available at an additional charge. This can offer peace of mind and financial security. It must be purchased within 10 days of your initial deposit in order for pre-existing conditions to possibly be waived. Let us know if you would like us to send you a brochure. We need to meet a minimum of 28 passengers by June 1, 2021 or the tour may run the risk of being canceled. If we cancel the tour due to less than 28, all monies paid by the customer is fully refundable as well as all insurance premiums paid. Final documents will arrive about three weeks prior to departure Final documents will include day-by-day itinerary, luggage tags, phone numbers and confirmed boarding locations and times. Please note: Occasionally a hotel property may not have an elevator and it may require climbing a flight of stairs.

Trobec Bus Company – Depending on how many from Central Minnesota, you will either board a coach or a smaller shuttle vehicle along and travel to Eau Clair to meet the group for lunch at the Oakwood Mall. There may be other along your way to Eau Clair but that will be hinged on how many in that location. We ask for at least 4 people if it's a site if it is off our main route.
12:00 pm- Estimated arrival to Eau Clair - Oakwood Mall. Join your tour manager and meet the rest of gang, have lunch and then continue your journey southeast to New York City.

There's limited restaurants within walking distance, so we'll take you to eat to a family style restaurant nearby.
Day 2: Tuesday, August 10 Travel to Du Bois, Pennsylvania 490 miles 7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors for the porter ~ 7:00 AM- Breakfast is served ~ 8:00 am – Board the coach and travel to Du Bois, PA. We’ll say goodbye to Merrillville and continue east on I-80 through extreme northern Indiana and Ohio through the upper northwest portion of Pennsylvania. Again, just set your seats back, relax and enjoy the countryside as we travel along. We’ll make stops every 2 ½ -3 hours for meals and comfort stops. Occasionally, we’ll play a movie on board and share stories and before you know it, we’re at our day’s destination. 6:30 pm- Estimated arrival to Du Bois, Pennsylvania at the Best Western Conference Center. Day 3: Wednesday, August 11 Travel to New York City, NY ( 4 Nights) 290 miles 6:30 am- Set your luggage outside your doors for the porter ~ 6:30 AM- Breakfast is served 7:30 am – Board the coach and travel to New York City. After a full breakfast buffet, we’ll board the coach travel to NYC. As we move along I-80 through northeastern Pennsylvania, we’ll begin to see the landscape change as we travel through the Allegany mountain range with it’s rolling hills and farmlands. We are about 5-6 hours (estimated barring traffic) from New York City. So other than a morning comfort stop and a lunch break we’ll continue to keep our eye on the BIG APPLE. 3:00 pm – Estimated arrival to NYC (check in is at 4 pm) to the Hampton Inn FOUR NIGHTS Once we arrive, we'll go in and drop off our carry on bags, then return to the lobby for a walking orientation tour of our surroundings. It helps get us acquainted with deli's, restaurants, theaters and museums that are within walking distance. Hotel: Hampton Inn Times Square Central - 8th and 51st Street - 212-581-4100 Upon our arrival, we’ll get checked in and then gather in the hotel lobby (for those who wish to join us) and we’ll take a short walk around the hotel to get folks comfortable with their surroundings. The rest of the day is wide open to enjoy as per one’s own agenda. Perhaps you’d like to see a Broadway show or just find a restaurant and enjoy a relaxing dinner to end your day. The Hampton Inn Time Square offers two Queen Beds in the room (Or one King for singles/couples), free high speed wireless internet, a nice breakfast each morning, coffeemakers, irons & ironing boards and hairdryers. It’s right in the middle of the Theater District where many theaters, restaurants and museums are within walking distance. Breakfast is included each morning.
Day 4: Thursday, August 12 Uptown-Midtown-Downtown Manhattan - Top of the Rock, Dinner & Show Enjoy breakfast, included, before beginning a day of sightseeing in the NYC. 8:00 am- Meet our step on guide and board our motor coach to begin our comprehensive tour of Uptown-Downtown-Midtown- Manhattan. First off…we’ll visit the Top of the Rock and then continue with a tour of Uptown (Harlem, Lincoln Center, Central Park, St Pat’s Cathedral); Midtown (Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Times Square. Grand Central Station, 42nd Street, Rockefeller Center walk Radio City Music Hall, and more); Downtown (Greenwich Village, Washington Square, Federal Hall, Trinity Church, World Financial Center, Wall Street and China Town. 3:00 pm- We’ll arrive back to the hotel ~ allowing a little time to rest before going out to dinner and show. 3:45 pm- Gather in the lobby. We'll bring you to dinner & show. (If you need to use a cab, they are available and plentiful!) 4:15 pm- Sit down dinner at a nice NYC Restaurant (Mustang Harry's on Seventh Avenue) 6:00 pm- Our dinner concludes ~ 7:00 pm- Take your seats for the delightful musical. Yet to be announced. The play we are looking at is called Come From Away and it's the true story of what happened on 9-11 as planes were grounded and the love and hospitality shown to citizens from around the world in Newfoundland. Stay tuned as we wait to see if it's still playing when we arrive in August 2020. Breakfast and Dinner is included today Note about Top of the Rock: Breathtaking vistas stretch for miles in every direction. You'll see New York's famous landmarks, including the Chrysler Building, Times Square, the Hudson River, the East River, Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Perched 70 stories above the city at Rockefeller Plaza, the panoramic views of Manhattan are unequaled anywhere else in New York City. You may still visit the Empire State Building on your own, but this has become a NYC city favorite with tourists so we thought we would do the Top of the Rock this time and see what everyone is raving about.
Day 5: Friday, August 13 Ellis Island Immigration, the Statue of Liberty & Little Italy Enjoy breakfast, before beginning another full day of touring. 7:45 AM board our motor coach with our NYC tour guide and travel to the ferry dock that will take us to Ellis Island. Here you will visit the Statue of Liberty. We’ll also visit the amazing Ellis Island Immigration Museum where over 3 million visitors come annually. This day will also include Little Italy with a delicious lunch, included. 3:45 pm- Return from our day of touring ~ A late afternoon return to the hotel allows you ample time to do as per your own agenda. New York is a city that’s alive with all the sights and sounds of musicals, horse drawn carriage rides, shopping and more.

Day 6: Saturday, August 14 A Free Day in the Big Apple! Enjoy breakfast, before beginning another full day of touring. This is your day to enjoy as per your agenda! Below are a couple NYC Icons that come to mind when visiting the Big Apple: The Metropolitan Museum of Art - Located @ 1000 5th Ave @ 82nd Street; Carnegie Hall: Located at 154th W 57th Street; Empire State Building –Located @ 350 5th Ave (between 33 & 34th Street) How about another wonderful Broadway Musical??? Breakfast is included today.
Day 7: Sunday, August 15 9-11 Memorial & Museum - Travel to Hammondsport, NY- Mileage: 280 Enjoy breakfast, before beginning another full day of touring. 8:00 AM- board our motor coach this morning for our visit to the brand new 9-11 Memorial and Museum. This is the first time we'll have seen the new memorial. The Museum displays artifacts associated with the events of 9/11, while presenting stories of loss and recovery. Beyond Ground Zero: 9/11 and the American Landscape, Photographs by Jonathan C. Hyman is on exhibition in the Museum. The photographs document improvised memorials that emerged within days of the attacks, and continually for years thereafter. This is sure to be very touching and emotional. We'll be here until for about 2 1/2 hours. 12:30 pm- We'll depart NYC and travel 280 miles (4.5 hours) to Hammondsport, NY - Upstate New York - Finger Lakes Region. Comfort stops and lunch break will be made along the way as we travel along. 7:30 pm- This is an estimated arrival hour to Jamestown. We'll relax at the hotel with the evening at your leisure. Day 8: Monday, August 16 Lucy Desi Hometown Tour, Studio & Museum -Travel to Port Clinton, Ohio- 350 Miles Breakfast is served in the breakfast room of the hotel – We’ll set our luggage outside our doors at 8 am. 10:00 am- We'll arrive to Jamestown, birthplace and home of Lucille Ball. he story of Lucille Ball. We'll visit the Lucy Desi Museum and their Studio. A stop in here wouldn't be complete without a nice lunch at the Tropicana, included. 1:30 pm- We'll continue our westward travels through upstate New York and Pennsylvania to Ohio. We’ll notice a change of pace from the big hustle and bustle of the city to a leisure drive with comfort stops along the way as needed. 6:30 pm- We’ll arrive to our hotel in Port Clinton, Ohio (Country Inn & Suites). Hotel: Country Inn & Suites 3760 E State Road, Port Clinton, Ohio # 419-732-2434 This property offers two beds for doubles and king beds for couples and single. They also have hairdryers, irons and ironing boards in the rooms and coffeemakers. They are located within 2 blocks of an Italian and Mexican Restaurant. They also have an Indoor pool. Day 9: Tuesday, August 17 Homeward Bound through Ohio, Indiana & Wisconsin - 438 Miles 7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors - Enjoy a full hot breakfast. 8:00 am- Board the bus for and we’ll continue to Madison. We’ll continue to stay on I-80 making the best time possible as we travel westward – again, making stops along the way as needed. We’ll arrive to our lovely Hampton Inn in Madison, Wisconsin tonight. 5:00 pm- Estimated time of arrival to Madison. Tonight dinner and evening activities are on your own. Day 10: Wednesday, August 18 Home Sweet Home with Many Fond Memories – 338 Miles 7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors and have your breakfast before checking out of the hotel. 8:00 am- Board the coach and we’ll begin the last day of journey. We only have a short day of travel since we are coming from Madison, WI. I hope you’ve left a little extra room in your suitcase to pack all the wonderful memories you’ve made on this NYC tour. We’ll travel along 94 W to Eau Clair (lunch stop) making this stop a great place to say good-bye to fellow travelers and begin boarding the shuttles that return you home. Breakfast is served. Estimated arrival for NE MN; Superior Area – 3 pm; Eveleth – 4:15 pm; Virginia – 4:30 pm; Hibbing – 5 pm; Gr Rapids – 6 pm; Estimated arrival to Central MN: St Cloud/Sartell- 3:30 pm; 3:45 pm to Rice; 4:05 pm to Little Falls; 4:45 pm to Baxter
A few other things to know about this tour: Reservations: Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservation is held without a financial deposit made. Over 40 people have been on a list waiting for this brochure. We feel it will fill up quickly. Dress Code & How to Pack: As far as dress code, the tour is comfortable and casual except for when you wish to dress up for a play or musical. But that is your choice to pack and dress as you wish. The most important thing is to be comfortable and enjoy yourself. It’s summertime in NYC (and we’ve noticed the weather isn’t that much different than MN in August) so pack accordingly. Meals: The meals we include offer menu’s with limited menu options while in NYC. The breakfasts at the hotel are deluxe continental- very filling. Hotels:The hotels are 3 & 4 Star (Best Westerns, Hilton Property, Holiday Inn & Marriott Properties). Specifics on each property is in your itinerary.All hotels offer elevators, Free Wi-Fi, indoor pools, two queen or double beds (and some rooms with KING only. Fully Guided with Professional Drivers and Escorts: Not to worry - you’re in good hands! Our escorts are very personable and will greet each of you as they take great care in operating a well organized tour. Our drivers are wonderful and very experienced with NYC driving. Luggage:Pack one suitcase each. This suitcase is delivered each night to your rooms by the porter. (Tips are included so do not tip them more). You may bring a carry-on bag, as well, on board. Carry-on bags are handled by yourself. Do not make them heavier than what you can carrry. Pack a swimming suit if you enjoy the pool, bring a camera, a raincoat, & an umbrella. It is wise to pack an alarm clock, too, as sometimes a glitch occurs for wake-up calls from the front desk. The Coach/ Seat Rotation: The coach is a new 56 passenger motorcoach with reclining seats, big windows, restroom, TV’, CD & DVD and chartered through Trobec’s Bus Company, St Stephens. The coach has seatbelts, foot rests, cup holders and spacious leg room. It also has a restroom, microphone. Limited Wi-Fi & 110 outlets are also offered. We do not rotate seats so you will keep the seat you have throughout the tour. If you have a special need for seating, kindly let us know in advance. If the coach is full, we will assign seats according to physical need and the date of registration. We stop every 2 - 3 hours for breaks. PLEASE NOTE: Sometimes we end up on a stretch of interstate that may prevent us from stopping exactly at 2.5 or 3 hours. We do our best to accommodate but remember…there’s also a restroom on board IF you need it. Thank you for your understanding. Shuttles : Sometimes, if an area where we promised a boarding location falls short in numbers, we may have to offer a small shuttle vehicle to help save costs or have you meet at a location along our path. We'd rather run a shuttle than totally cancel the convenience of a ride for folks for this tour. We hope you'll understand why we occassionally offer smaller shuttle vehicles. By smaller vehicle such as a car or SUV. The shuttle we generally run is a 29 passenger mini-coach. Thank you. Special Needs:Be sure to let us know of any special needs...such as diet, walking, stairs, allergies or motion sickness, etc…. If you use a wheelchair, walker (one with a seat is best) or a scooter, please let us know. Please refrain from using strong cologns or perfumes while on board the coach. So many folks have allergies and we want everyone comfortable while traveling. Diabetics are encouraged to bring along some little snacks as we cannot always promise meal breaks on schedule though we do our best to. Remember we are also on eastern time zone. So pack accordingly. Tipping: The tour includes tips for luggage handling, meals and step-on-guides while touring NYC. Tips are not included for your driver & on board travel host or meals that you pay for on your own. On Board Activities: We play movies, play games, listen to CDs & tell stories as we pass the time along while traveling. If you have a cute joke or story (and it’s appropriate for all audiences!) then we invite you to use the microphone and share your humor with all on board. Schedule Changes: We reserve the right to adjust this schedule for the benefit of all traveling. Sometimes changes occur beyond our control. If a change occurs, we’ll replace it something of equal value.
