Day 1: Saturday, August 6th
Here is a preliminary boarding schedule. This will likely change once we close out the tour and see where everyone is from.
8:30 am- Arrive to Grand Rapids Sawmill Inn for breakfast (paying on own).
Here is where we'll blend the two buses together and continue to Winnipeg. Generally we travel through Grand Forks but on occasion, we've also traveled through Thief River Falls. Our goal is to arrive to Winnipeg early enough to check in and freshen up a bit before going to the Assiniboia Downs Race Track for our dinner (6:30 pm) and evening of horse racing!
5:30 pm- Arrive to the Charterhouse Hotel in downtown Winnipeg

Tonight our evening entertainment is dedicated to an night at the Assinboia Downs Race Track to include an all-you-can eat Saturday night Buffet . You will enjoy watching the races (or betting on your favorite horse!) After the race is done, we’ll select several people to go down to the “Race Presentation” ceremony and get their photos taken with the winning horse and jockey.
6:30 pm- Enjoy a Buffet Dinner at the Assiniboia Downs Horse Race. 10:30 pm- After an evening of fun, we’ll return to the hotel.
Day 2: Sunday, August 7th
8:00-10 am- Enjoy breakfast at the Cafe Bella in the hotel. (Included).
Take the morning at your leisure. Sleep in a little later.... have a relaxing breakfast.
10:00 am- Board the coach and travel to the Forks Historical Market .
Our groups always enjoy spending time here as specialty food vendors abound with fresh meat, seafoods, baked goods and bountiful produce. The dining experiences will be unique and fun. Shop for Folk Arts and contemporary crafts and street performers are in the market place, for your enjoyment, as well.
1:30 pm- Return for time to relax before tonight's events. If you are still feeling energetic and wish to do a bit more shopping...Portage Place and the Hudson Bay Company is about 6 blocks away. These are both great places to hang out for a couple of hours.
5:00 pm- Board the coach for your first experience of the Folklorama Festival. We’ll enjoy a 3-course meal, 3 wonderful ethnic pavilions, music, dance,costumes and more. Stay tuned as we get closer we'll announce which pavilions we'll visit. 10:30 pm- We’ll return to our hotel.
Day 3: Monday, August 8th
7:00-9:00 am- Enjoy breakfast this morning at the Cafe' Bella. (Included).
9:00 am- Board the coach for 3 hour tour for an Area City tour of Winnipeg. Our city step-on-guide will tell us about the history and culture, the people of Winnipeg and how it got it's name. You'll find that Winnipeg is a delightful city.
12:00 pm- After our tour concludes we'll wind our way to the Assiniboine Park Zoo for a glimpse into the Manitoba's Arctic and Sub-Arctic life. You'll learn about polar bears at "Journey to Churchill" exhibit and so much more.
4:00 pm- We'll return to our hotel with enough time to freshen up and get ready for our 2nd night at Folklorama!
5:00 pm- Board the coach for an evening to enjoy the Folklorama Festival. We’ll enjoy a 3-course meal, 3 wonderful ethnic pavilions, music, dance, costumes and more. Again... the pavilions we'll be visiting won't be confirmed until a few weeks prior to our arrival.
10:30 pm- We’ll return to our hotel.
Day 4: Tuesday, August 9th
7:00-9:00 am- Enjoy breakfast at the Cafe Bella in the hotel. (Included).
Take the morning at your leisure. Sleep in a little later.... have a relaxing breakfast.
9:00 am- Board the coach and travel to the Canadian Mint…Here will get to see the machines and hear the ways money is made. The Winnipeg Mint is a high-tech, high-volume manufacturing facility. Literally billions of Canadian's coins are produced here each year. Established in 1976, the Winnipeg plant is an amazing state-of-the-art facility.
11:00 am- Our next stop is to the brand new Canadian Museum for Human Rights. This museum covers diverse stories ranging from Indigenous Perspectives, to Breaking the Silence, to Rights Today, all of which span the globe by relating personal stories. You'll begin your travel through the 11 exhibits from the dark, near-cavernous ground floor up to the sunlight-bathed Tower of Hope at the Illuminating, architectural marvel, known as the CMHR. You'll get your lunch at the Bistro Restaurant, on site, paying on own.
3:30 pm- Return to the hotel for a little time to relax before your 3rd night of Folklorama.
5:00 pm- Board the coach for our last night at Folklorama Festival. Stay tuned as to which 3 pavilions we'll see. 10:30 pm- We’ll return to our hotel.
Day 5: Wednesday, August 10th
7:00 - 8:30 am- Enjoy breakfast, included at Cafe Bella.
7:30 am- Set your baggage outside your doors for the porters. 8:30 am- Check out of the hotel and begin our travels home.
Set your seats back and relax as our driver brings us back home to Minnesota. This day is dedicated to travel. We'll make lunch and comfort stops along the way. Below are estimated arrival hours today.
4:00 pm- Estimated arrival to Bemidji to make our shuttle transfer for our friends from central Minnesota.
(30-40 minute fast food stop & comfort stop while we transfer luggage) Baxter: 7:00 pm; Little Falls: 7:30 pm; Rice 8:00; Sartell: 8:15 pm
5:45 pm- Estimated arrival to Grand Rapids, 6:30 pm to Hibbing ; 7 pm to Virginia 7:15 pm to Eveleth; 8:30 pm to Duluth.
