Eric Clapton
with special Guest Star
Jimmy Vaughan
September 14-15, 2023 XCEL Energy Center – Private Suite
Guitar legend Eric Clapton has announced a series of FIVE concert dates across North America in September 2023. Clapton's first Twin Cities concert in 14 years is scheduled for September 14 at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul. The 77-year-old Clapton has been active since 1963 when he first played with the Yardbirds, then John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and then left that band to form Cream. After Cream, he founded the supergroup Blind Faith then quit and later formed Derek and the Dominoes. Clapton has also seen his share of success as a solo artist. The British rocker has amassed 18 Grammy awards, released dozens of studio albums, charted countless hits and has been ranked near the top of the “Greatest Guitar Players of All Time” lists. Clapton’s special guest is Jimmie Vaughan. Vaughan, 72, just underwent open heart surgery in December, but according to his Twitter page, he is ready to rock. Founder of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, he’s no guitar slouch himself. Vaughan’s group opened for The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1969. He has released at least 18 albums and won four Grammy Awards. The only duo album he ever recorded, Family Style in 1990, was made with his younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan. Join us for this amazing Classic Rock Concert to see legendary Eric Clapton!

This property offers a pizza grill in house, along with an indoor pool and a lounge. It also offers a “Kick Back Reception” with light appetizers and drinks. However, we may not have time to enjoy all the amenities that come with the Drury due to time. The refreshments are not served until 5:30 pm and we have to leave for our concert by 6:15 pm. It’s unlikely all of us will get through that line before it’s time to go. We can’t be late for this amazing concert. So… perhaps some of you will get to take advantage of free food at the Drury. Rest assured we will have food in the suite at the XCEL Center. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased just outside our room at the bar and brought into the suite. You cannot bring any food inside. No purses. This is entirely cashless so credit cards are the only option for payment.
6:15 pm- Board the coach and travel to the XCEL Center. Though it’s nearby, the traffic can cause a delay.
We will enter through Gate 4 – on the side of the XCEL Center. Our suites are on a private level with our own restrooms and lounge just outside our door. This event is paperless so to enter, we must go in together as they scan each bar code from the app on the tour director’s phone. We have two suites which can accommodate 80 people (40 per suite)- they are next door to each other just above section 107. There are 30 seats (three rows of 10) and 10 bar stools at a countertop that overlook the arena. Let us know if you prefer bar- stool seating and we will try to honor that request. It is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the regular seats are gone, then we will fill bar stool seats accordingly. Again… to remind you that this event is paperless and CASHLESS. Credit cards only accepted.
7:30 pm- "Eric Clapton with Guest Star Jimmy Vaughan"
We are so excited to be able to see Eric Clapton live in concert so close to home! He is only doing five concerts in North America. Just think… we will be able to see this legend at the XCEL. For Eric Clapton and Classic Rock fans, this is an unbelievable opportunity. After the concert, we'll return to the Drury Inn and enjoy a well-deserved night's rest. The lounge is open until midnight on Thursday night. The pool is open until 10 pm so it’s unlikely we’ll be back in time to use that.
Day 2: Friday, September 15th

We are still working out the details of this day. Perhaps we’ll just enjoy downtown St Paul for a couple hours
which might include some free time at leisure in the historic district. Stay tuned.
