September begins the Autumn Season! The air is changing, the weather is cooler, and the leaves are just starting to change. All the wonderful memories you have of autumn are in the air and in the landscapes of Door County just waiting for us to stop on by. The fragrances and sounds of the fall season surround us at each and every turn. And where better to experience this than in Door County – one of the best places in the entire Midwest! Door County is beautiful any time of year and you will love it even more in late September. Pack your bag, grab your camera and join your friends from Happy Trails Tours as we visit beautiful Door County, Wisconsin and Washington Island.

Cancellations: Monies returned with cancellations between July 15 - August 15, 2016 is contingent to what Happy Trails Tours receives from hotels, charters, tour companies, restaurants and theaters. Day 1: Monday, September 26 Travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin
Happy Trails Tours INC offers convenient Trobec motor coach boarding in the early morning hours in BOTH Northeast MN
(Grand Rapids, Iron Range Cities & Duluth) and Central MN (Baxter, Little Falls, Rice & Sartell). Kindly mark the boarding site that is most convenient for you. 12:00 pm- At lunch time, we'll blend our two groups in Eau Clair, Wisconsin at the Oakwood Mall before continuing east to Green Bay, Wisconsin. This is a travel day…where you’ll have time to just sit back, relax and get acquainted with fellow travelers on board. Meal and rest stops will be made as the day goes along. Today you'll enjoy seeing all the lovely barn quilts in Shawano County.
5:00 pm- We'll settle in to the Super Eight Motel in Shawano, Wisconsin. Lodging is a bit limited in this area but the reviews say the rooms are very clean and nice with a friendly staff ready to assist.
Your evening meal and entertainment is as per your own agenda this evening. (No elevator but most rooms are on 1st floor)
Day 2: Tuesday, September 27 Green Bay, Wisconsin and Lautenbach's Winery
7:00 - 8:00 am- Enjoy Breakfast, included, before we begin traveling to Green Bay for an area city tour. Depending on the schedule for the Green Bay Packer's, we'll be able to take you on a tour of Lambeau Field. However, this is something we won't know until they set up their 2016 schedule as they do not offer stadium tours the day after a home game. So hang in there Packer Fans!!!
1:00 pm- Board the coach after our tour for a short drive to Door County, Wisconsin.
3:00 pm- We'll arrive with to beautiful Door County's Mainland where we'll with a drive to The Orchard Country Winery (Cherry and Apples). Here we'll discover 100 acres of fruit-laden orchards and vineyards on a working farm, owned and operated by the fourth generation of the Lautenbach family. The winery is located in the family’s 100-year-old dairy barn!
5:00 pm- Check into the Rowley's Bay Resort on Ellison Bay. (They have an elevator, indoor pool, two beds in most of the rooms)
6:00 pm- Enjoy an "International Buffet Dinner" at the hotel, included.
Take the rest of the evening as per your own agenda...getting acquainted with your surroundings & the beauty of Ellison Bay.
Day 3: Wednesday, September 28th Ferry to Washington Island - Door County Fish Boil and Theater Production
7:30 am- Enjoy Breakfast, included, before exploring Washington Island! Begin a full day of touring with our Door County guide and travel to the boat dock for our Ferry (bus and all) to Washington island. Our morning and afternoon will include a visit to a Lavander Farm, Stav Church and a stop by Jackson Harbor.
____ pm- Board the Washington Ferry (Time TBA) . We'll re-board the boat and ferry back to the mainland. As we return to the mainland, we've dedicated a bit of time in Sister Bay to see the goats grazing on top of the roof at Al Johnsons (always a fun stop for our groups!). We'll be sure to stay a little while so folks can browse through the shops in Sister Bay (or grab a cup of coffee and sit a spell).
3:30 pm- Board the coach and continue back to Rowley's Bay Resort where an evening of storytelling and a delicious dinner await!
4:30 pm- Get ready for an enjoyable evening with a delightful storyteller prior to a traditional Door County Fish Boil at Rowley's Bay.
5:00 pm- Dinner is served! This unforgettable experience is sure to leave lasting memories and a full tummy!
6:30 pm- Travel to one of Door County's local performing art theaters. Stay tuned as we wait to see what will be offered at this time.
7:30 pm- 9:30 pm- Enjoy the evening performance. (TBA) 10:00 pm- Estimated return to the hotel.
Day 4: Thursday, September 29 Peninsula State Park, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse and Theater Production
7:30 am- Enjoy Breakfast, included, before enjoying another fun day! We'll begin our day winding our way through Peninsula State Park, a 3,776 acre state treasure with nearly seven miles stretching along Lake Michigan's Green Bay shoreline. It wraps itself around a landscape of forest, meadows and wetlands and ascends over 150 feet atop the rocky bluffs. We'll also make a visit to Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, built in 1886 and serving as a guiding light over Green Bay's waters for over 146 years. There's so much to do and see in Door County!
4:30 pm- Arrive to the lovely English Inn for dinner, included. We are very short distance to the theater tonight so that we can arrive early.
6:00 pm- Re-board the coach and travel to the Peninsula Players Theater for a comic mystery show called "39 Steps".
“The 39 Steps” is a wildly comic thriller by Patrick Barlow in which the entirety of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 adventure film “The 39 Steps” (with over 150 characters) is performed on stage by a cast of only 4! It’s filled with dangerous femme fatales, dastardly villains, deadly assassins and lightning-fast costume changes. Audiences will be delighted as Alfred Hitchcock’s film adaptation of John Buchan’s original story is magically recreated on stage – from the Flying Scotsman train ride to a plane crash – right before your very eyes.
Day 5: Friday, September 30 Homeward Bound with Many Fond Memories
6:30 am- Breakfast, included. 6:30 AM- Set your luggage outside your doors for the porters / 7:15 AM -The coach departs for home.
We’ll enjoy the beautiful scenery of Wisconsin, making stops along the way, as we make our journey homeward.
4:30 pm- Estimated arrival to Eau Clair- After a comfort stop/fast food stop, our groups (NE and Central MN) will split off and continue their journeys to their hometowns. Central MN: 7:30 pm- Estimated arrival to Sartell, 7:45 pm to Rice, 8:45 pm to Little Falls and 9:15 pm to Baxter
Northeast MN: 7:30 pm- Estimated arrival to Duluth/ Superior / 8:45 pm to Eveleth / 9:00 pm to Virginia / 9:30 pm to Hibbing / 10:15 to Rapids.
