A few things to know about the 2018 Winter Escape Tour:
Reservations: Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. We can hold a reservation up to seven days without a deposit if the tour isn’t sold out. We need a minimum of 30 travelers to take this tour. This tour is time sensitive so PLEASE do not wait too long to sign up! We must have a minimum of 30 travelers registered by December 10, 2017.
Financial Info and Deposits Due & Cancellation Penalties: Deposit of $ 250 per person is due upon registering. This becomes non-refundable with cancellations made after October 10, 2017. Final Payment is due December 10, 2017.
Types of Payments: We accept personal checks, money orders and cashier’s checks, Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
Cancellations Penalties: This tour becomes non-refundable with cancellations made after December 10, 2017. Always when a cancellation arises, we try to do whatever we can to help recover financial refunds to our customers. Refunds are contingent upon what hotels, charters, restaurants, theaters, tour companies, etc….refund us. No monies are returned after December 10, 2017. Travel Insurance is recommended.
Cancellation Insurance: Travel insurance can offer financial security as well as peace of mind for unforeseen events that may prevent you from taking this trip or interrupts this trip. Cancellation insurance is available at an additional charge and is based on a sliding fee scale. Call our office for further information or if you need a travel insurance brochure.
Final Documents to Arrive: Final documents will arrive in Mid-January. These documents will confirm your boarding location, time of boarding, luggage tags, payment receipts or invoices, medical forms, and updated itineraries with hotel phone numbers & addresses.
Dress Code: It’s very casual and comfortable.
The Schedule: Occasionally changes occur that are beyond our control. If this happens, we'll contact you and make the necessary adjustments.
The Coach: Our motor coach is chartered through Trobec Bus Company. They have the newest fleet around. They are equipped with restrooms, air- conditioning, sound-system, reclining seats, extra leg room, DVD player, television, large windows, WI-FI and electrical 110 outlets.
The Hotels: The hotels we use are beautiful properties! Our properties generally include two beds (Oftentimes one king bed for couples unless otherwise noted), non-smoking rooms, breakfast each morning, and provide luggage handling. Tips for the porters are also included. The Drury Suites offer cocktails and a light dinner in the early evening upon our arrival. Also, you’ll need to let us know your room preference or if you have any special needs such as a room nearby an elevator, lower floor, allergies or other special concerns. Many hotels offer free Wi-Fi.
People with Special Needs: Folks with special needs can easily do this tour as long as they can walk some short distances. If you can climb a few steps into the coach, you’ve got it made! (NOTE: Scooters are welcome on our tour buses and can be stored underneath in the bay compartment of the coach. They must be collapsible). We make comfort stops every 2 ½ to 3 hours. Let us also know of any allergies (such as; colognes, perfumes, foods, etc… or if you have any other concerns).
Special Requests: Let us know if you have any special requests such as seating on the bus, location of rooms at the hotel, one bed or two, or special dietary requests. We want this tour to be the BEST ever for you. Let us know if you are bringing a wheel chair, walker or scooter. We want to be as prepared as possible so your tour runs smoothly and your needs are met. Please note: Happy Trails Tours cannot push wheel chairs. You must have a caregiver along who can assist you with that. Thank you.
Seat Rotation on the Coach: We do not rotate seats on the bus. We find folks stay healthier and that our groups prefer keeping one main seat. With tours that are quite full, we'll reserve the seating in advance so that couples and small groups traveling can sit together. This tour includes boarding in towns throughout the state of MN with our charter, Trobecs of St Stephens. MN.

12:45 pm- Re-board the coach and continue on to Des Moines, Iowa.

This day includes boarding in various towns throughout the state of Minnesota. Once everyone is on board, we'll begin our Winter Escape Journey with our first overnight in Des Moines, Iowa. You’ll find the first day to include time to relax and get to know fellow travelers while riding along. Stops will be made every 2 ½ - 3 hours. A mid-afternoon coffee and comfort stop will be made at the MN / IA boarder at the "Top of Iowa" . We'll stay here about 1/2 hour and then we'll continue on our way.

Day 2: February 17th - Saturday Travel to Oklahoma City, OK 500 Miles
7:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors / 8:00 am –the bus departs for OKC.
After hot buffet breakfast, continue south to Oklahoma. Again…our day will go by quickly as we visit and get to know others on board the coach. Comfort stops will be made as the day goes along. Our lunch stop will be in Kansas City today.
We'll continue our journey with a afternoon comfort stop included prior to arriving to OKC.

Tonight's activities are as per your own agenda. This property also offers cocktails in the early evening, and also has a nice restaurant, lounge, swimming pool. Day 3: February 18th - Sunday Travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico 540 Miles
6:00 am- Set your luggage outside your doors / 7:00 am –the bus departs for Albuquerque, NM.
A nice full hot breakfast is served at the hotel.
From Oklahoma City we’ll head straight west on I-40 (Route 66) through the upper pan handle of Texas and on to the state of New Mexico, also known as the “Land of Enchantment”. Once we cross the border, we'll gain an hour as we move into Mountain Time. We’ll make one comfort stop en-route to Albuquerque. Set your seats back and relax.

A nice hot buffet breakfast is offered in the lobby.
We'll begin our morning with an early morning departure to include a mid-morning comfort stop. We should arrive to Tucson in the late afternoon. Tonight we've included a nice dinner at the hotel.
3:30 pm- Arrive to Tucson. Check into the Radisson Inn & Suites - 6555 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson # 520-239-1152
This is an amazing resort property with a restaurant, swimming pool, miniature golf, and more. It’s also within nearby distance of Restaurant Row, Park Place Mall and other fun places. Each two-room suite offers a living room, separate bedroom and a deluxe bathroom. They also include refrigerator and microwave. We'll travel Northwest on I-10 to I-8 west until we get all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Once we cross over the border from Arizona to California, we'll move into Pacific Time From San Diego, we are only about 40 minutes south of Carlsbad Beach, our home for the next SEVEN nights!

Today we'll join our local tour guide for an area tour of historic Carlsbad and other neat places of interest. After our tour, we'll take you on a little drive up the along the Pacific Coast with an estimated return in the late afternoon. We'll be sure to get back in time to see the sunset! You are only steps away from the lovely beach with a direct hotel access.

Today is dedicated to our driver. It's his/her day off. Perhaps you'll enjoy a lazy day by the pool or picking seashells along the shore. Perhaps you'll decide to take the hotel shuttle to historic Carlsbad and visit one of the antique shops or restaurants. Day 8: February 23rd - Friday Visit Movie Actor, Leo Carrillo's Ranch - "Poncho" from Cisco Kid

10:00 am- After your leisure breakfast, step aboard the motor coach and travel to the actor, Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch. Leo Carrillo played the trusty side-kick to Cisco Kid (Duncan Renaldo) in the famed cowboy TV series from Cisco Kid. Discover the history and tranquil beauty of this former working ranch, once owned by the actor. Secluded in the heart of a magnificently landscaped 27-acre canyon, this historic park contains and protects romantic hand-crafted adobe buildings, antique windmills, a reflecting pool and many other beautiful historic structures where visitors can explore and experience California history. Nature-lovers delight in gorgeous agave, bougainvillea, Birds of Paradise, plentiful trees and the company of dozens of brilliant peacocks who call the ranch home. 7:30 am-We have a wonderful Hollywood/Beverly Hills Tour planned for everyone! Plan on being gone most of the day as we'll be traveling to Beverly Hills and Hollywood today. We'll see Grauman's Chinese and Kodak Theater, walk along Rodeo Drive, Sunset Boulevard and visit the famous Farmer's Market. Our step on tour guide will share with us the history of these historic places.
7:30 pm- We'll return to the hotel around 7:30 pm depending on the traffic
7:30 am-We have a wonderful Hollywood/Beverly Hills Tour planned for everyone! Plan on being gone most of the day as we'll be traveling to Beverly Hills and Hollywood today. 10:15 am- We'll depart for Temecula Valley Wine Country - just a short drive from Carlsbad and we couldn't miss taking you for a drive to this countryside. Rural in nature, sustainable in farming practices and including an agricultural preserve known as the Citrus/Vineyard zone, the Temecula Valley is widely recognized as the 'jewel' of Riverside County. Known for their diversity, wineries here in the Temecula Valley grow and produce over 50 different varietals of wine; from Cabernet Sauvignon to Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot to Mourvedre, Viognier to Chardonnay. So get ready to do a bit of "tasting and sampling" at the Monte De Oro Winery and Vineyard. We've also included a nice lunch today. We'll get you back to the hotel just in time for one more amazing Carlsbad Beach Sunset.

We'll make stops along the way as needed and enjoy the lovely scenery and the company of fellow travelers as the day goes by. We'll arrive in the late afternoon to Sedona, Arizona's Red-Rock Country.
We'll lose an hour today as we move from Pacific Time to Mountain Time on the California / Arizona border.
