Pella~Bettendorf~Mason City, IOWA
What do you get when you blend tulips with gaming in the same tour?
(Yes…We’ll visit Mason City! Boyhood town of Meredith Willson’s, “Music Man”)
|
Even in a region rich in ethnicity, the Dutch stand out. In a town square in Iowa, lacy white hats shaped like pyramids, horns and half-moons bob high atop women's heads. Men wear black caps, breeches or baggy trousers and narrow bands cross at their throats. Their wooden shoes click and clack as they dance. You’ll enjoy Historical Village, Vermeer Windmill, Scholte House, Parade and Grandstand seating while in Pella. You’ll also see dancing, street scrubbers, Quilt Show, and sample foods and more at the 18th Annual Pella Iowa Tulip Festival.
The Isle® Casino Hotel Bettendorf is a great destination where you do a bit of gaming on an actual riverboat. The hotel property is separated from the riverboat itself and is just a short walk away. The hotel accommodation offer newly renovated rooms with 1,000 high-paying slots and video poker in your lucky denominations from 1 cent to $25. Yes, if you love gaming….you’ll be sure to get the full-tilt thrills of some hot casino action at the Isle Casino Hotel in Bettendorf. We’ll arrive here about 4 pm with the evening to enjoy as per your own agenda.
Mason City honors Meredith Willson, native and internationally renowned composer, songwriter and playwright of the motion picture musical , “Music Man”. We’ll walk across the Music Man Footbridge, visit his boyhood home & museum and Music Man Square featuring ice cream parlor & soda fountain, pool hall and more. Yes, see why “there’s trouble in River City” as we roll back to the Warner Brother’s motion picture of The Music Man. |
