As the tour gets closer, we’ll be able confirm places and exact times of boarding. Thank you. This day is dedicated to getting acquainted with fellow travelers along the way. 6:30 PM - Check into the Signature Inn in Normal, IL (101 S Veteran‘s Parkway) No pool. Sorry. All meals are on own today. Day 2: Thursday, April 23rd Travel to Nashville, Tennessee Enjoy a nice breakfast this morning before beginning your day and traveling to Nashville - (436 miles - 6 ½ ++ hours away) We’ll travel this morning to Nashville. Arriving in the late afternoon. They have an Indoor pool and a lounge with live entertainment nightly. Check into the hotel - Guest House Inn and Suites, Nashville, TN. (2420 Music Valley Drive) We’ll be here for 2 nights! We’ll stop by the hotel, get checked in to the hotel before taking everyone over to the Opryland Hotel. Here you’ll get to explore as per your own agenda ….getting dinner there on your own. What a unbelievable place! Have fun! Later in the evening we’ll travel to the hotel - settle in for a well deserved night’s rest. Breakfast included today Day 3: Friday, April 24th Nashville’s “Music…Music….Music” Enjoy a nice breakfast this morning before enjoy a day of sightseeing! First we’ll begin our day with a delightful tour of Nashville…learn the music history, the people, and more! After the tour, we’ll stop by the Texas Troubadour Theater to hear the Skall Family perform. You’re in store for a real treat … not only is this family fabulous musicians and singers… but they have roots from the Iron Range. They are from Buhl and have lived in Nashville for about 10 years now. Our next venue…is a quick stop by the hotel to freshen up for the evening’s activities. We’ll have dinner, included, at the “Cock of the Walk” (true Southern meal!) and then to the Grand Ol’ Opry at the Opry House. Friday nights are televised live performances so you can generally expect to see some pretty big performers. They’ll announce the line up the week of the show. Get ready for a great day in Nashville…to include a city tour, an afternoon matinee, dinner and the Opry. Breakfast and dinner included today. Day 4: Saturday, April 25th Paducah, Kentucky - American Quilt Festival Enjoy a nice breakfast before departing for Paducah….about 2-½ hours away. What a lovely time of year to travel to Paducah…during their dogwood season. Spring is bursting this time of year so we should see lots of pretty flowers while visiting here. Paducah is America’s “Quilt Capitol of the World…and it’s not hard to see why they’ve given it that name. We’ll arrive in the late morning to the American Quilt Festival! Each person will receive a custom designed bag along with that year’s “pin”. Enjoy the festival….you’ll see many quilts on display that were entered in the contest …some winning prizes in the $25,000 range! There are many shopping vendors, food vendors and displays. It’s really unique. Since we are only getting to spend “one” day at the festival…we’ll be sure to stay till it closes. Our lodging for the next two nights will be at Patti’s Inn and Suites….in Grand Rivers, Kentucky (about 20 minutes from the festival). It was recently purchased by the owners of Patti’s 1880 Establishment. It’s a small “Mom & Pop” style property that been all newly renovated just this past year. We’ll get settled in - relax and enjoy the rest of the evening at the hotel. NOTE: It is possible that Ricky Tims may be performing tonight at the convention center. If so, we’ll bring you to his show tonight. If you are not sure who Ricky Tims is … “Google” his name and check out his music…plus he’s a great quilter so you can see him personally at the festival. Breakfast included today Day 5: Sunday, April 26th Paducah…The Quilt Capitol of World Have a nice breakfast, included, this morning before enjoying a full day of sightseeing! This morning we’ll be greeted by one of Paducah’s city tour guides who’ll show us the town and share their history. We’ll see the flood wall murals, visit White Haven Visitor Center and learn about the Mississippi River and the great flood. After our tour…we’ll have lunch, on our own, then visit the American Quilt Museum and the historic downtown Market Square. Oh we’ll fill the day up in no time at all! Before we know it…we’ll be back at the hotel getting ready to go out to dinner at Patti’s 1800 Establishment, included. The waitresses are dressed in period costumes and the bread is served in clay flower pots! Here you’ll get a choice of their famous “pork chops” or “baked chicken”. The rest of the evening will be spent relaxing as per your own agenda. Breakfast and dinner included today Day 6: Monday, April 27th Hancock’s of Paducah - Travel Day Enjoy a nice breakfast this morning before enjoy a day! Of course we have one more “big” stop that everyone absolutely loves…We’ll go to Hancock’s of Paducah fabric store in the morning. The prices for fabric are the best anywhere not to mention the variety of designer fabrics available. After our shopping, we’ll visit the Whaler’s Catch downtown for lunch (paying on own) with a bit more time to explore the antique shops and flea markets in the area. It’s a fun place to shop at ….or to “just” window shop, if you prefer. (If you don’t care to shop at Hancock’s, we’ll bring downtown to the historic Market Square where you can spend time at your leisure until it’s time to leave. In the afternoon, we’ll travel to Normal, (4-½ hours away) Check into our hotel - the Signature Inn (the same as the 1st night). Breakfast included today. Day 7: Tuesday, April 28th Back to Minnesota with fond memories Enjoy a nice breakfast at the Signature Inn before departing for home. We’ll begin our journey homeward with lots of wonderful memories of Nashville and Paducah’s American Quilt Festival. Of course we’ll likely have some treasures in the form of purchases, too! 5:30 PM- Estimated arrival to the Superior ~ 6 PM to Duluth ~ 7PM to Virginia / 7:20 PM to Eveleth ~ 8PM to Hibbing.
