8:00 AM - Board the coach and begin our journey north to Iowa but first, we’ll stop in Kansas City and visit a really neat museum!
12:30 PM - Arrive to Kansas City - visit the Steamboat Arabia Museum. We’ll also get lunch here before continuing on to Des Moines.
The Steamboat Arabia sank in the mid-1850’s in the muddy Missouri River. It was a 171 foot long side wheel steamer that could carry up to 222 tons of cargo, had two twin 28 foot paddlewheels and could push her way upstream 5 mph. It lay buried for over 130 years until it was rediscovered some years back. It is now an amazing museum and the story of how they pulled up out of the river and the artifacts they found are unbelievable! Enjoy.
